The functions of the Public Solicitor's Office (PSO) is to provide legal assistance to needy persons. The Public Solicitor ensures that everyone charged with an offence shall have a fair hearing, within a reasonable time, by an independent court and be afforded a lawyer if it is a serious offence.

Citizens of Vanuatu can access the services provided by the Public Solicitor's Office across the country through offices located in Port Vila, Santo,  Malekula, Tanna, Penama and Torba.
