The position of the Public Solicitor was vacant since the former Public Solicitor, Late Jacob Kausiama passed away on the 23 April 2024, since then the Office of the Public Solicitor operated without a Public Solicitor until the 10 February 2026 when the Office the Head of State His Excellency Nikenike Vurobaravu, the President of the Republic of Vanuatu appointed Ms. Jane Tari as a Public Solicitor.
Ms. Jane Tari is from the island of Ambae. She was graduated with a Law Degree and a Degree in Management at the University of the South Pacific in 2008. She was then employed by the OPS in 2009. In 2022 she pursued for further study in Australia and graduated with master's in law and is in continuous employment as Principal Solicitor until the appointment as a current Public Solicitor. Ms. Jane Tari is working hard to improve the office of the Public Solicitor and suggested for OPS Act amendments.
