The Public Solicitor's Office received a formal invitation from Mr. Nick Karu, Deputy Principal of Central School, to participate in the Careers Talk Day held on the school premises. The event spanned two days, from 19th to 20th February. Our team was scheduled to present on the 20th, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
General Feedback From Participants
The audience for our presentation consisted of Senior Year students, specifically those in Years 11 to 13, both male and female. The session covered several key topics. Ms. Kalonikara began by explaining the functions of the Office of the Public Solicitor, its office locations, and team members. She also outlined the main responsibilities of administrative and clerical staff, as well as the courses students need to pursue in order to qualify for such roles.
Following this, Mrs. Tovor spoke about the core functions of a solicitor. She highlighted the academic pathway required to obtain a law degree, the qualifications necessary to practice law, and ultimately become a solicitor. She concluded by emphasizing the importance of joining the OPS team.
Recommendations
We recommend that the Office of the Public Solicitor consider introducing its own branded merchandise. At the end of the awareness session, only the students who asked questions engaged directly with us. However, it would be more effective if we also asked them questions to assess whether they had understood the information we shared. If their responses were correct, they could then be rewarded with the recommended merchandise.
